How Can swelling And Pain In The Knee Be Treated?

On my left knee, on the flat side of the left side of my knee, I have a swelling there. It started out small and over the last three weeks it is slowly getting slightly larger. I think that it is not going to get any larger. It is about the size of a small red potato. Could this be an abscess? Really painful

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

It is not likely to be an abscess since in this cases it would be painful, red and fluctuating with associated fever. However it may be bakers cyst or lipoma or arterial pseudoaneursim so you should do ultrasound for a start if symptoms persist. This will reveal possible causes and then further treatment can be planned which may include surgery as well. If this is growing quickly and puslating then you need to see ER and do ct angiography,but this is not common an dusually this is a cyst or lipoma which ca n be easily treated
